Yukon flag

In celebration of Canada’s centennial in 1967, the Royal Canadian Legion branch in Whitehorse, the capital of Yukon, held a flag design competition, offering a $100 prize to the winner. The selected design was submitted to Ottawa for review by a vexillologist, who suggested several changes. However, the Legion committee chose to retain the original design, preserving the vision of the contest winner.
