Product Description
National Truth and Reconciliation Day in Canada - Commemorating a Path Towards Healing and Reconciliation, is observed on September 30th each year to recognize the profound impact of the Indian Residential School system on Indigenous communities. This Orange Day is a solemn acknowledgment of the historical trauma inflicted by the Indian Residential School system on Indigenous peoples. Its primary aim was to assimilate Indigenous children into mainstream Canadian culture, eroding Indigenous languages, cultures, and traditions. Tragically, many children faced abuse, neglect, and the loss of their lives, leaving a lasting intergenerational impact on survivors and their families. In response to the painful history of residential schools, National Truth and Reconciliation Day was officially recognized as a statutory holiday for federally regulated workplaces in Canada in 2021. This designation allows individuals and communities to engage in meaningful activities that promote awareness, understanding, and healing.
By buying and raising the Reconciliation Flag, we remember the past, recognize the present, and work towards a future of healing and reconciliation! Get yours today!
