Every Child Matters

Every Child Matters is a phrase used to spread the awareness of the cruelty behind the residential school experience. According to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, it is estimated that around 4,000- 6,000 Indigenous children died in residential schools with their graves being unmarked. Residential schools strip Indigenous children from their families and communities. Besides the promise of "proper education," Indigenous children of residential schools face brutal and grueling torture; starvation, medical experimentation, physical abuse, mental abuse, molestation, malnutrition and ultimately death.

Spread the awareness of the cruelty behind the residential school experience, and the inequalities that the Indigenous community continues to face with our Every Child Matters flag.

Three Ways to Support Indigenous Communities

1. Donate Money to Indigenous COVID Relief Funds

Over the course of COVID-19, Indigenous communities have been impacted especially hard. Systemic discrimination has led to a lack of proper funding for tribes to have access to health care and essential supplies.

2. Research the Indigenous Land you are Residing

By doing so, you are aware to how you can protect the rights of the land you are living on.

3. Get involved! Volunteer with Reconciliation Canada.

Reconciliation Canada is an organization that helps Canadians engage in transformative experiences that revitalizes the relationships with Indigenous communities. What we love about them is their drive to actively engage multi-faith and multi-cultural communities to explore genuine reconciliation. Some volunteer areas include Project Managements, Fundraising and Event Planning. All to which contribute to creating positive change.
