The disability flag consists of three horizontal stripes in gold, silver, and bronze, which correspond to the three categories of disability: physical, psychic, and sensory. These colours also represent the medals used in sports competitions.
In July 2017, a flag was registered in the Spanish Register of Intellectual Property with the purpose of symbolizing people with disabilities, designed by Eros Recio. On December 3, 2017, which is observed as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the flag was presented to the United Nations.
